Scholarships

Academic Scholarships are generally awarded for academic achievement, special abilities as indicated by the applicant’s past record (high school and/or college), ACT or SAT scores, participation in extracurricular activities, and other criteria as defined by the specific scholarship programs.

The following scholarships all require the student to be a Computer science major. In addition, scholarship students participate in departmental activities, including becoming a member of the local chapter of the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) and attending their regular meetings.

 

Richard Gaines Russell Memorial Scholarship    ($3,500/year)

Deadline(s): March 1

Computer science majors; 3.5 GPA; applicants should apply in last semester of junior year. Please print and complete this application, then return to Wichita Falls Community Foundation (address on the application form).

 

MSU2U Mobile Development Team Scholarship    ($1,000 – $2,000/year)

Deadline(s): November 15

The MSU2U scholarship is specifically intended for students who are willing to work as part of the MSU2U mobile development team. Please print and complete this application, then return to Dr. Tina Johnson.

 

Tom C. White Graduate Scholarship ($1000-$2000/year)

Deadline(s): March 1, Nov. 15

Must remain in good academic standing and show satisfactory progress towards a computer science graduate degree. This requires a student to be enrolled in at least 6 graduate hours per semester.

Henry and Nora Seifert Scholarship

Deadline(s): March 1

Computer science majors; 3.0 GPA, 3.25 CMPS gpa; preference given to women, U.S. citizens, and students with financial hardship.

 

Orion A. Daniel Computer Science Scholarship (approx $500/semester)

Deadline(s): March 1, Nov. 15

Computer science majors; 3.0 overall GPA; 3.0 CMPS GPA; must be enrolled in a CMPS course and be a member of ACM.

 

David and Gail White Scholarship (approx. $500/semester)

Deadline(s): March 1, Nov. 15

Computer science majors; 3.0 overall GPA; 3.0 CMPS GPA; must be enrolled in a CMPS course and be a member of ACM; preference given to juniors and seniors and US residents.

 

Louie Huffman Mathematics and Computer Science Scholarship ($2000/year)

Deadline(s): March 1, Nov. 15

Math and Computer Science majors; in good academic standing, juniors or exceptional sophomores. No applications for this; recipient is selected by scholarship committee.
